I’ve decided to make a list of some of the things I am currently involved in. I will try to list in some chronological order.

- Install IP flex circuit at remote office. Install and configure Cisco Call manager express (CME) begin May 2010, CME installed on 2811 intranet registration and calls tested OK, router installed at remote office, ATT Internet router installed awaiting Internet circuit to complete project. COMPLETE

- Design spec and configure a security system at our local lab nursery. begin June 2010, material cameras, dvr, switch, enclosures and other supporting equipment and material has been aquited. outside groundwork has been initiated. COMPLETE

- Design, configure and install a seperate network for our mill automation systems. begin July 2010 [ Network design complete, equipment specification complete, 105,000 in network hardware ordered.] Implementing some new Cisco 3560X series switches in this system and I am very impressed with the 3560X, modular uplink configuration, direct usb console conection and an out of band ethernet port to manage the complete configuration of the device. After implementation this network will realize gig ethernet to the desktop and with agregation multigig intranet, Good stuff. All material has been aquired except for core switch (4507R-E) and ASA5520 for segmentation. Vlans separate PLC systems, Allen Bradley, from PLC clients and HMI. Mcast routing to organize plc traffic. All went quite well and the project is… COMPLETE

- Spec, aquire and terminate fiber optic cable to support modification of one of the mill redundant fiber loops. begin August 2010, paln review will take place on 23 Aug 2010. COMPLETE

- Core corporate routing and switching replacement and upgrade, begin Oct 2010, core device has been specified and quotes have been aquired 102,000 have to get one of these. ASA’s configured, 6509 configured awaiting down time schedule for cutover. A new and bigger/better project preempted the total completion of this effort, but the ASA’s are up failover configured and tested, L2L vpn’s moved over from older 3025 concentrator. New 6509 is configured an operational, but has not replaced older (CATOS 6509), as of this post.

- Wireless WAN project,(the bigger/better project) April 2011 187,000 acre coverage area. That is 292 square miles designed, engineered and configured by yours truley. Pilot project approved and equipment purchased. Installed pilot system on 50 foot mobile tower ( pictures will be posted ). In process UPDATE. Four new towers have been erected and we have leveraged assets (towers) that we already controlled and have arranged lease agreements for additional sites as required. 80 percent of the system is operational and I have been mapping coverage and identifying additional sites for six more towers.

-Mill operations VMWARE conversion project. Migrate all of our RSVIEW, SQL, Terminal servers and DC’s to VMWARE. Our first phase of migration to two ESX host has been completed VMOTION tested between host and system is operational. Our next phase will include two additional ESX host at a secondary Data Center and will serve as site redundancy/ site to site replecation. Phase 1 COMPLETE.

- Cisco Call Manager upgrade from version 4 to 8, In process. The new CUCM servers have been built on VMWARE, as of this post a change freeze has been implemented on our existing system and backups of the existing system have been completed, CDW corp has been engaged to support this upgrade and have sent us a really good voice engineer Chris Black, so many thanks to Chris!
